hubris

I am not afraid of it,

I thought I would be,

but I would guess I’m

running out.

There is very little left to say.

I came here so self-assured

and laid too much on the line

before my time.

I couldn’t help myself.

It was there for the taking.

Now, I’m off on the hunt

for the missing mysteries,

hibernate and ruminate

on how to eliminate

the unnecessary ephemera here

in my crypt of hubris.

Another death to the ego

as seasons turn,

right on time.
